Twitter renamed as X#
Recently, the world's richest person and "human light" Elon Musk once again caused a stir by announcing that he would rename Twitter, which he acquired, as X. He also unveiled a logo featuring a white X on a black background, officially transforming the small blue bird into X. Unexpectedly, Twitter, Thunder, and DingTalk's title of the small blue bird, Twitter, which is the most powerful in the battle, took the initiative to withdraw first.
Origin of X#
In the early days of the internet boom, Musk purchased the domain name x.com. Initially, he wanted to build X into a financial trading center, which is now PayPal. However, after going through a complicated process (which will not be discussed here), Musk sold PayPal but kept the domain name X.com. When many people hear X, they think of pornography, such as the famous "xvideo," so this domain name did not have a good application for a long time. However, recently, Musk suddenly announced that he would transform X.com into a universal application, starting with renaming Twitter as X.com. Will Twittervideo be called xvideo in the future?
Interestingly, not long ago, our little Zha, Mark Zuckerberg, just launched an APP that rivals Twitter, breaking the record for the fastest user base to reach 100 million using ChatGPT. Now Twitter has been renamed X. Of course, compared to the renaming, I would rather see the two of them boxing each other.
Current Situation#
Currently, the domain name x.com has been redirected to Twitter, and the small blue bird icon has been changed to X. Some details have not been modified yet, and Musk also revealed that Twitter will be made into a dark mode interface only. It seems that the Android APP has already been modified and will change after the update. As for the iOS version, the name has not been changed temporarily because the APP name requires at least two characters, but the icon has been changed. Before this could be released, Apple set a precedent for Twitter and put X on the App Store.
It is not clear whether Musk simply wants to rename Twitter as X and modify the corresponding UI or if he intends to create X as a universal application, with renaming Twitter being just the first step. Personally, I am more inclined to the second possibility, but considering Musk's unconventional behavior, other possibilities cannot be ruled out.
Zero-cost acquisition of Twitter username @X#
It is worth mentioning the zero-cost acquisition culture of America. Twitter forcibly incorporated the user @X as its official account, which is really pitiful for this little brother. It truly demonstrates America's unique zero-cost acquisition culture, after all, as long as it is below $950, it's fine. So, I want to know how the value of this account is determined. Is it as much as Ma Yilong says?
Another thing is Twitter Japan. If it is renamed as X.Japan, it seems to infringe on copyrights. Let's see how it will be handled later.
Methods to prevent modification#
The simplest method for the client is not to update. Twitter's core functions are already available in very early versions, so there is no need to upgrade.
